Six concrete questions (fixed pricing, fleet, airport grace time, real coverage) that separate a genuinely premium executive transport service from an improvised one.
Hiring a private chauffeur is about far more than booking a car with a driver. The difference between an adequate transfer and a memorable experience lies in details you can verify before you pay. Rather than trusting adjectives ("premium", "exclusive", "luxury"), it pays to ask concrete questions. These are the ones that genuinely separate a serious service from an improvised one.
1. Is the price fixed and known when I book?
This is the best filter. A serious service offers a fixed price known at booking, with tolls, waiting and parking included, no traffic surcharges and no surprises at the end. If you are told the fare is "approximate" or "depends on the route", be cautious. You can check it yourself: a transfer in Madrid should cost you around 160 € - 200 € before you get in the car, not after.
2. What fleet do they run, and in what condition?
A premium service works with high-end vehicles (Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-Class, BMW 7 Series or Audi A8 for executive journeys, V-Class or Sprinter for groups) kept in immaculate condition. Ask about the average age of the fleet and the amenities on board: wi-fi, water, chargers and individual climate control are a standard today, not a luxury.
3. Is the chauffeur a trained professional?
The vehicle matters, but the chauffeur is everything. A professional driver knows the city and its real journey times, anticipates traffic, masters protocol and understands when to converse and when to remain silent. Training, experience and presence are the best indicator of a service's quality.
4. Do they track flights, and how much grace time is included?
For airport transfers, punctuality is non-negotiable. A good provider monitors your flight in real time and adjusts the pick-up for any early or late arrival, at no extra cost. Check how much grace time is included after landing: a reasonable standard is 45 minutes on domestic flights and 60 on international ones.
5. Is the coverage they advertise real?
This is where the most exaggeration happens. "Nationwide coverage" usually means long-distance corridors from a base, not cars of their own waiting in every city. Ask plainly: do you have a local fleet here, or is this a trip from another base? An honest provider will tell you clearly. Privyde, for instance, operates from a Madrid base with long-distance service in both directions, and says so.
6. Do they guarantee genuine discretion?
For executive clients, privacy is non-negotiable. Unmarked vehicles, chauffeurs trained in confidentiality and an impeccable manner ensure every journey is as private as your agenda.
If you want a service that answers these six questions clearly, at Privyde we bring these criteria together on every transfer, based in Madrid with long-distance service across Spain. Book your transfer or contact us for a bespoke proposal.
